Behind the Processes with Scottish Jewellery Designer Alison Macleod.
Scottish jewellery designer Alison Macleod finds inspiration for her new collection .
As we welcome in the New Year, it is an exciting time in the studio as we start to look for inspiration for our new collections. I love to do this by getting out and about. Magical trips abroad with friends help to not only invigorate me but also my creative mind as the fresh concepts, shapes and colours catch my eye.
There is nothing quite like collecting little souvenirs from trips, as soon as they are stuck to the studio mood board my sketchbook is guaranteed to come out. Tangible things help me to create, the elegance of a fallen olive branch this year, was enough to kick me off on my 2020 journey of inspiration for our new collection.
A makers process is often hidden behind the finished product but this year I want to take you all on that journey with me from inspiration to conception to wearer and really show you the journey of some of my pieces.
As a proud Scottish jewellery designer I am lucky enough to live in some of the most dramatic landscapes this beautiful country has to offer, and living in the wilds bring me such joy. As I begin this new year, I would also love to share with you all the beauty of Dumfries and Galloway and the wonderful makers and creators that have been drawn to this incredible part of Scotland. Here is to the year of the maker, to the solo creators in their studios in their gardens and the growing designers and craftsmen and women all over the UK, keeping it ethical, Fairtrade and fabulous.
From this Scottish jewellery designer to you, Happy New Year!
